What does this cost?

Because we don’t have a one-size-fits-none approach, cost will depend on what we decide to work on together. If the end goal is to sell the business externally, and we are engaged as a broker, we may make our fee simply as a commission on sale of the business. If the end goal is more nuanced, we typically will charge a monthly fee; likely in the range of $500-$3000, depending on the scope of the engagement.

What if I'm not sure exactly what I want for the future of my business?

That’s a perfect place to be! We always start our process by seeking to understand your goals. If you aren’t sure what those are, you’re in good company and we’re happy to walk through that part of the process with you. And, if during the process you realize that your goals have shifted, we’ll shift the process to fit–we’re here to help you realize your best outcome, whatever that may be.

Why can't I just use a broker to sell my business?

You definitely can! And in some cases, that may be the best pathway. We’d be happy to discuss how that might fit your personal and business goals. If you do decide to use a broker, we can be that broker (in most states), and/or we can provide some insight for your selection process. As with any industry, there are some brokers that are very good, some that are very bad, and most are ok. We can help you find a broker in the “very good” category.
